Flowers of the Valley: Beauty from the Valley Floor

Texture. Layers. Reworking. Mixing.

That’s how this collection came to life—both on canvas and in my own heart.

Flowers of the Valley isn’t just a body of work. It’s a moment in my career I will never forget.

Behind the scenes

Without diving into all the details, I’ll just say this: the past two years have felt like a long walk through the valley. I’ve been in it—fighting to climb out, trusting God when things didn’t make sense, holding on to hope even when I couldn’t see the way forward.

When my dear friend asked me to create a commissioned piece for her newly remodeled kitchen, I was honored… and honestly, a little nervous. It’s always been a dream of mine to be trusted with meaningful, personal commissions like this. Her words were life-giving. She believed in me when I was struggling to believe in myself. And I carried that with me.

Time to Grow

I wrestled with that painting—a lot. I fought through frustration and perfectionism and self-doubt. But the process changed me. It rooted something deeper. And out of that struggle came this entire collection.

Early workings

Months earlier, my best friend had shared the song Flowers with me—and I’ll admit, I cried. Ugly cried, even. The lyrics hit close to home. I had been in the valley asking God why, all while trying to trust that He is still good and still working, even in the silence.

Peace

And now, standing on the other side of that creative fight—and with this collection complete—I can look back and see it. The flowers He planted are starting to bloom. Slowly, quietly. But they’re there.

“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” – Exodus 14:14

I believe with everything in me that God never wastes our valleys. He uses them to plant things we can’t yet see. And one day, as we begin to climb again, we look back and realize—He was watering all along.

If you’re in the valley right now, I pray this collection is a symbol of hope. The flowers are coming. Even if you can’t see them yet. Even if you’re still in the mud of it. You can trust that beauty is growing beneath your feet.

We may not see the whole picture right now—but we can look back with gratitude. We can be thankful for the pain that brought us peace.

Flowers of the Valley is my offering of that hope.

With love,

Tracy
